Funerals give us the opportunity to grieve and show others support during difficult times. Through our prayers and actions during these times we show our respect for life, which is always a gift from God, and comfort to those who mourn.
Attend mass on both All Saints and All Souls Days.
Request a mass intention for a friend or family member who has passed away.
Send a card to someone who has recently lost a loved one.
Visit the cemetery and pray for those you have lost.
"'Bury the Dead' calls us to treat the dead 'with respect and charity, in faith and hope of the Resurrection'" (CCC). This includes those who have faced and fled from the prospect of death:
*Refugees fleeing religious persecution
*Refugees escaping violence
*Refugees fleeing their homes because of deteriorating environmental conditions
Visit your refugee communities. Every area has them, even if you have not yet noticed them:

REFLECT AND FOLLOW-UP: The work of mercy isn't finished when the activity ends. Spend time in prayer, reflecting on where you saw and experienced the love and mercy of Christ. If you did an activity with a group, follow-up with others in that group and share insights or observations. This is a chance to grow in faith - and mercy! - together.
